Casric Stars make decision on ex-Chiefs midfielder Given Thibedi

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars have renewed the contract of ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Given Thibedi ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Thibedi joined Stars during the 2023 January transfer window on a free transfer after parting ways with Moroka Swallows.

The talented midfielder initially signed with Swallows on loan from Chiefs in the 2019/20 campaign before the deal was made permanent in August 2021. Thibedi struggled for game-time at the Dube Birds under different coaches such as Dylan Kerr, Ernst Middendorp, and Brandon Truter due to injuries.

‘Manando’ as he’s affectionately known, signed with Casric Stars to revive his career. The 26-year-old featured in 23 appearances in the league last season as Casric finished seventh on the log standings.

FARPost has gathered that Thibedi, who was reportedly suspended by Stars for ‘absconding work’, has renewed his contract with the club.

AGENT COMMENTS ON GIVEN THIBEDI’S SUSPENSION RUMOURS

His agent, Ntobatsi Masegela, clarified the suspension rumours, revealing that the midfield maestro will remain with the Mpumalanga-based side for the new season.

“It’s quite a surprise that there are reports saying that Given Thibedi has been suspended by Casric Stars. We have never received any suspension letter for Given,” Ntobatsi said. “Given and Casric needed to find themselves because his existing contract at the club had expired, so negotiations were ongoing.

“And I can tell you now that Thibedi has signed a new contract with Casric Stars. He’s in the future plans of the team for the new season.

“He’s very motivated, and he wants to add goals and assists to his game. The aim is to improve on his performance of last season. Given just needs to focus on his game and try to help the club to gain promotion to the Premiership.”
