Malukele Mathonsi opens up about his unpleasant departure from Casric Stars

Former Casric Stars captain Malukele Mathonsi has made shocking revelations following his departure from the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.

Mathonsi played a significant role in Casric last season, having featured in 22 games across all competitions and leading the side with aplomb.

The 29-year-old spent two seasons at Casric, having joined them in the 2022/23 campaign from the now-defunct Free State Stars.

The talented midfielder also had a stint with TS Galaxy back in the 2019/2020 season.

WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN CASRIC STARS AND MALUKELE MATHONSI?

In a recent interview with FARPost, Mathonsi revealed that he felt the club had treated him badly and that they had red-listed him from joining other clubs.

The player alleges that he has been labelled as someone who is a drunkard, a bad influence on other players and sells games by his former coach, Sundra Govender when other clubs call the coach for reference purposes.

This comes after Mathonsi was released from the club via a phone call from the club’s manager for no reason being stated.

Mathonsi found out about how his former club has labelled him following his unsuccessful one-week assessment at another Motsepe Foundation Championship, who let him go after calling his former coach for reference.

Now, the player feels like the club is making it difficult for him to move on with his life, and the club’s hierarchy has shown no interest when he tried to contact them to resolve the matter.

MALUKELE MATHONSI SPILL BEANS ON CASRIC STARS DEPARTURE

Mathonsi did not beat around the bush when spilling the beans on his departure from Casric.

“So, I was released by Casric Stars at the end of the season with no reason stated. I was told via a phone call by the football manager that the management had a meeting, and they’ve decided that they won’t be renewing my contract,” Mathonsi told this website.

“I said okay “no problem”. Then, I went to one of the teams playing the same league, which is the Motsepe Foundation Championship, for assessment; the team called the head coach Sundra for reference, asking why would let the captain go, asking for reference.

“The head coach Sundra told the club that I’m a drunkard, a bad influence to the players and I sell games, I believe that was the reason they didn’t sign me.”

Mathonsi continued: “I tried to speak to the coach, but he never responded to my messages. I asked to see the chairman of Casric texting, trying to talk to him about the situation. He also showed no interest whatsoever to hear me out.”

The player insists that he just wants to clear his name and be able to move on with his life and continue with his football career, as he is none of those things he has been labelled by his former side’s mentor.
