Chirambadare opens up about the positional rivarly with Sekgota

Magesi FC star Edmore Chirambadare has opened up about the left wing rivarly with former Kaizer Chiefs man Kgaogelo Sekgota and four others.

Chirambadare is one of the senior players at the Betway Premiership novices, having played a key role in their promotion sojourn.

As such, he is expected to be a vital cog in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership. However, the arrival of Sekgota scaled up competition in the left wing position.

Sekgota joined the Clinton Larsen-coached side in July. He had been released by Stellenbosch FC halfway through last season. His arrival inadvertently elevated competition in the left wing position, where four other players are hoping to excel.

The club has Maloisane Mokhele, Jacob Everson, Clement Moshwana and Anathi Ngwadla, all eligible to play in that position.

And Chirambadare has admitted it will not be easy for any of them to have a fixed first-time place.

In an interview with FARPost, the Zimbabwean winger said: “I think that it is [left-wing] the most contested position in our team. I am happy he [Sekgota] is here with us. There is something special he gives us.

“KG brought a different dimension. Naturally, he is an exciting player; his presence makes it interesting; you can’t ask for a better positional rival than him.

“Whoever gets the oppurtunity will be deserving. Our duty is to support each other as we patiently wait for the chance. Of course, I rate him highly; he is still young, and I believe he will give the team good results.

“Right now, he has pushed us up and the level of competition is now high. Considering that we have a young and energetic team, I believe he adds more value, especially by pushing us hard.”
