Owethu Khumalo signs for TS Galaxy
Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy have acquired the services of forward Owethu Khumalo from Marumo Gallants.
Khumalo was with Bahlabane ba Ntwa this pre-season after the side bought Moroka Swallows‘ status in the top flight. The striker was one of the players that were under ‘The Dube Birds’ last season.
He becomes the ninth signing for the Rockets in this transfer window period set to close on Friday, 20 September 2024.
Khumalo joins the likes of Qobolwakhe Sibande, Victor Letsoalo, Thamsanqa Masiya, Siphesihle Maduna, Khulumani Ndamane, Ntiyiso Bombi, Jegbay Morris, and Emanuel Seih, who have already put pen to paper to be with Galaxy.
The talented frontman also turned out for teams such as The King’s College, Bryanston Warriors and Randburg FC before joining Maswaiswai during the 2023/24 season, where he signed his first professional contract.
At Swallows last term, he made five league appearances and represented the Dube Birds’ DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side.
He made his professional football debut on 11 November 2023 when Swallows played out to a 0-0 draw with Polokwane City FC at home under the guidance of coach Steve Komphela.
WHO ARE THE NINE GALAXY SIGNINGS REPLACING?
With the Mpumalanga-based club having made nine new signings, Galaxy also parted ways with nine other players.
The nine players who have left the Sead Ramovic-coached side are Lindokuhle Mbatha, Pogiso Sanoka, Bernard Parker, Fiacre Ntwari, Lehlogonolo Mojela, Vuyo Mere, Vasilije Kolak, Higo Vidal, and Orebotse Mongae.
Ntwari, Sanoka, and Mojela went on to join Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC respectively.
Meanwhile, Bernard Parker and Vuyo Mere are now the coaches for the Rockets’ DDC side for the 2024/25 season.
Galaxy started the new season on the wrong foot following their 3-1 defeat to Stellenbosch in the MTN8 quarter-final tie at Danie Craven Stadium a fortnight ago.
