Yagan Sasman headlines Casric Stars’ 18 new signings
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars have announced 18 new signings, with former Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows defender Yagan Sasman headlining the list.
The 18 new recruits are Sasman, Siyabonga Vilane, Teboho Lekhatla, Nhlanhla Ntuli, Nande Jojwana, Kabelo Mofokeng, Boysen Mbatha.
Anothers include Katleho Molaba, Mlungisi Mkhwanazi, Mlungisi Zwane, Thabang Rakwena, Oageng Phiri, Lako Lako, Marc Anderson, Ofentse Mothapo, Marate Ndiengune, Lesego Sebetlela, and Joel Agoe.
Last week, PSL confirmed that the Motsepe Foundation Championship season will start on the weekend of 23, 24, and 25 August 2024.
A fortnight ago, FARPost reported that Sasman penned a one-year deal with Casric after his failed trials at the newly-promoted Betway Premiership side, Magesi FC.
This comes after the 28-year-old had been without a club since January 2024, following his departure from the Swedish club, AFC Eskilstuna.
CASRIC STARS BEEF UP TECHNOLOGICAL TEAM
As reported by this publication last month, Casric have also beefed up its technical ahead of the new campaign. The club roped in veteran administrator Peter Koutroulis, who will serve as the club’s football manager.
The side also brought back well-travelled mentor Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala as the club’s assistant coach. Mosala will work under head coach Sundra Govinder.
Lesego Ncube also joins the Casric family as the club’s physiotherapist, whereas Brian Van Heerden, Hassan Falayajo, and David Mhlanga join the side as goalkeeper coach, conditioning coach and team manager, respectively.
Casric will play their first game of the season against Durban City [formerly known as Maritzburg United] away from home on Friday, 23 August 2024. The game is set to start at 19:30 at Chatsworth Stadium.
Last season, Casric finished in position seven on the Motsepe Foundation Championship log standings with 43 points after 30 matches.
In those 30 outings, the club managed to register 11 wins, draw 10, and lose nine in the process.
