Gamildien signs with Durban City FC, Kadodia gives Gabuza update

Ruzaigh Gamildien has signed with newly rebranded Durban City FC following his exit from Royal AM, FARPost has learnt.

Gamildien’s departure came as a surprise as he had been training with the team, preparing for the upcoming season as someone who was in the club’s plans.

However, as first reported by this publication, he bid farewell to the club last week after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on contract terms.

It appears Thwihli Thwahla had an option to extend the stay of the 35-year-old; however, due to financial constraints, he ended up departing.

RUZAIGH GAMILDIEN TO PLAY HIS FOOTBALL IN SECOND-TIER NEXT SEASON

Gamildien will be playing his football in the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season after penning a deal with the Farook Kadodia-owned side.

Durban City FC are hoping to leverage the experience of the former Moroka Swallows forward as they are aiming to elevate themselves to the Betway Premiership next season.

Gamildien scored eight goals in 36 matches he played across all competitions during his time at Royal AM.

He could be in action when Durban City open their 2024/25 league campaign with a home fixture against Casric Stars on Friday, 23 August at Chatsworth Stadium at 7:30pm.

KADODIA GIVES LATEST UPDATE ON THAMSANQA GABUZA

Meanwhile, indications suggest that former Orlando Pirates forward Thamsanqa Gabuza may soon finalise an agreement with the Durban-based club.

He has been involved in the team’s preparations for the upcoming season since the previous month.

According to the club’s chairman Kadodia, head coach Simo Dladla will give a finality on whether they sign the 37-year-old.

“Look, I must get [final] word from the coach; he’s still training with the club,” Kadodia told FARPost. “But I still have to get the finality of the coach.”
