Kaizer Chiefs announce the signing of defender Inacio Miguel

Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of highly-rated defender Inacio Miguel from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda as they continue preparations for the new season.

Amakhosi reached an agreement with the Angolan side for the services of the centre-back last week, as reported by FARPost.

Miguel touched down in South Africa on Tuesday, 20 August 2024. He has put pen to paper after the two parties agreed to personal terms ahead of the start of the Betway Premiership.

Angolan international is the fifth acquisition for the Soweto giants in this transfer window period after the signing of Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam and Gaston Sirino.

“Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Angolan international Inacio Miguel Ferreira dos Santos from Petro de Luanda, one of the biggest Clubs in his homeland. Welcome to the Kaizer Chiefs Family,” reads the club’s statement.

In the last term, the 28-year-old participated in 23 games across all competitions for Petro. He also contributed three goals in the process.

He only joined the Angolan giants in January 2023 from FK Liepaja on a free transfer.

Miguel not only plays as a centre-back but also as a right-back, which comes in handy for the Glamour Boys.

The Angolan international’s signing comes when the club faces defensive woes due to injuries.

Dillan Solomons, Edmilson Dove and new signee Sam are currently on the sidelines nursing their injuries, which have left a void at the back, with the club having released defenders Sifiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo, who has joined Sekhukhune United.

The other three players who are currently out on injuries are Mduduzi Mdantsane, George Matlou and Tebogo Potsane.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will try to work on a combination that will yield fruitful results, with Miguel having arrived at Naturena and joining his fellow defensive soldiers, like Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, and Zitha Kwinika, who are ready for the Betway Premiership season to commence.

Amakhosi will play their first league game of the campaign away from home against Marumo Gallants on Saturday, 14 September 2024. The game will start at 17:30 at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Free State.
