No Kaizer Chiefs transfer on the cards, Fiston Mayele’s agent confirms

Fiston Mayele’s agent, Yasmin Mudele, has dispelled reports linking the Congolese forward to Kaizer Chiefs, stating that a transfer is not in the works.

Mudele said while the player is keen to reunite with his former coach, Nasreddine Nabi, his club, Pyramids FC, is not willing to let him go.

Mayele was in fine form in his first season in the Egyptian Premier League, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 27 starts. The former Young Africans striker worked with Nabi during their time in the Tanzania Premier League.

Mayele scored 54 goals in the two seasons he played under the tutelage of the Tunisian at Yanga SC.

Despite parting ways with the reigning Tanzanian champions a year ago, the two have maintained a friendly relationship and continue to stay in touch.

With reports linking the 30-year-old forward to Amakhosi, his agent has cleared the air on the issue, saying the Egyptian side would not be willing to let him go.

WHAT FISTON MAYELE SAID ABOUT FISTON MAYELE

“He’s an exceptional player, so there’s demand everywhere, not only with Chiefs,” Mudele told FARPost in a telephone interview. Asked if ever there was “solid interest” from the Soweto giants, she professed ignorance.

“If you say solid interest, how would I know [if there was indeed solid interest from Kaizer Chiefs]?” Mudele repeatedly referred to Nabi as their “favourite coach”, insisting her client would be eager to play under him once again.

“We’ve received several calls, and we have Nabi there, who’s our favourite coach. However, the situation is that the player has a contract, and Pyramids are not willing to release him.

“As much as Mayele would love to play for Nabi, Nabi is one of our favourite coaches; we love him. He’s a nice person [but it’s impossible]… They worked really well together. But the reality is that he’s under contract…”

An insider familiar with both the coach and player from their time at Yanga disclosed that there were never any discussions about the player moving to Chiefs. They both understand that Pyramids have no plans to sell the player currently.
