Marumo Gallants make decision on Buhle Mkhwanazi

Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants have made a decision on former Bafana Bafana international defender Buhle Mkhwanazi.

FARPost has learnt that Mkhwanazi spent two days training with the club this past week.

He last played competitive football during the 2021/22 PSL season for SuperSport United. His stay at the club was short-lived after differences over COVID-19 vaccination.

“I left SuperSport not because I was out of contract. But because of what I saw in a dream,” explained Mkhwanazi at the time. God told me in a dream that I can’t take the jab [vaccination]. Some will laugh and say look at him walking away from a contract.”

Prior to that, the 34-year-old had spent six seasons at now-defunct Bidvest Wits. He was supposed to relocate with the club when they were bought by Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM], but he had some differences with the club.

This publication has since gathered that Mkhwanazi trained with the club for just two days [Monday and Tuesday]. He officially left on Wednesday, and the club has reportedly decided against signing the former University of Pretoria player.

MARUMO GALLANTS MAKE A DECISION ON MATOME MATHIANE AND TSHEPO RIKHOTSO

Meanwhile, former Golden Arrows and Baroka FC captain Matome Mathiane is also training with Gallants. He parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC at the end of last season.

He was one of the key players for the side that failed to gain promotion during the playoffs.

FARPost has learnt that the 35-year-old has impressed the technical team. He is likely to sign on the dotted line in time for their first Betway Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs on 14 September.

Mathiane will join the likes of Tshepo Rikhotso who has been signed by the club.
