Orbit College confirm the arrival of Pirates striker

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Orbit College FC has confirmed their new signings, including Orlando Pirates striker Katlego Cwinyane on loan.

Orbit College FC opened their 2024/25 Championship season with a 1-1 draw against Baroka FC on Sunday at the Global Village in Lebowakgomo.

The club’s head coach, Pogiso Makhoye, has confirmed that the team has only lost two players and has welcomed two new arrivals.

Makhoye lost midfielder Mbulelo Wagaba, who recently joined Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants. Talented midfielder Thuso Moleleki also left to pen a deal with Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

But Orbit College FC have found replacements. They recently added two players to their squad: Simphiwe Ndlovu from SAFA ABC Motsepe League side Platinum City Rovers and Pirates attacker Katlego Cwinyane.

“We only lost Mbulelo Wagaba and Thuso Moleleki, who went to Marumo Gallants and Orlando Pirates, respectively,” said Orbit coach Makhoye.

“We have also brought in [Simphiwe] Ndlovu from Platinum City Rovers and Cwinyane from Hungry Lions. But he is a Pirates player, so we brought him on loan. So those are the two signings that we brought.

NO NEW SIGNINGS FOR ORBIT COLLEGE IN THE CURRENT TRANSFER WINDOW PERIOD

Makhoye further explained why the club did not add any players to the team. Orbit are in the second season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after an impressive debut campaign.

“We believe that we need to promote these young boys because we are running an Under-21 team that we need to promote, especially now that Moleleki is gone,” he added.

“You saw today [Sunday] we started with [Gomolemo] Khoto, [Nhlanhla] Faku; those are the boys that we need to give a chance. We also had Mnqabisa, who is young.

“So we are not signing any player. We still kept the core of the team that promoted this club. For now, we are closed; no signing. We don’t have big signings.”

Orbit will play Hungry Lions FC in their second match of the season on Sunday, 1 September.
