MC Alger & Sekhukhune in advanced talks over Chibuike Ohizu

Sekhukhune United and Algerian giants MC Alger are in advanced talks over the transfer of the Nigerian striker Chibuike Ohizu.

The Algerian Ligue 1 will begin on 21 September, and the transfer window will officially close on the 10th of September.

Alger are reinforcing their squad to maintain their good run, having won the league title last season and losing in the Algerian Cup final.

They will also be aiming for success in the CAF Champions League as they’re favourites to secure a group stage spot when they meet Monastir in the second preliminary round.

As first reported by iDiski Times, Alger tabled an offer for the 27-year-old forward, and the clubs are seemingly in the final stages of negotiations.

Ohizu could soon leave the Betway Premiership side, Sekhukhune, ending almost a four-year stay at the club. He has scored 24 goals and registered two assists in 87 appearances he has made at Sekhukhune.

SEKHUKHUNE LOOKING FOR OHIZU’S REPLACEMENT

In addition, FARPost understands that the Limpopo outfit has also started seeking a replacement for the player with just three weeks left before the South African transfer window closes.

‘Babina Noko’ have already parted ways with centre-forward this transfer window, Michael Sarpong, who went on to train with SuperSport United, hoping to secure the deal ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Sekhukhune head coach Lehloholonolo Seema also has Andy Boyeli as an option for the number nine position, having signed the Congolese striker from the Zambian side Power Dynamos in June.

Meanwhile, MC Alger have also been heavily linked with Polokwane City FC star Oswin Appollis, who reportedly requested to leave the club ahead of the closure of the window.

The player is understandably yet to agree personal terms with the North African side. However, the two clubs have yet to confirm the player’s transfer.
