Player crisis to force Royal AM to forfeit DDC opener

Royal AM will be unable to participate in what was supposed to be their opening match of the DStv Diski Challenge on Sunday due to a shortage of squad resulting from various reasons.

Thwihli Thwahla were scheduled to take on TS Galaxy on Sunday, 1 August at King Zwelithini Stadium at 10 am before Kaizer Chiefs battle with Golden Arrows at 12 pm at the same venue.

According to multiple sources, Royal AM’s failure to participate in the match is attributed to an insufficient number of players available for the encounter against the Rockets.

Insiders indicated that only eight players are currently eligible to participate this season so far.

However, one of these players is under suspension from the previous season, leaving only seven available for selection on Sunday. This situation arises from the failure to register certain players for various unknown reasons.

Polokwane City and SuperSport United clash will replace this match to complete the festival.

Additionally, another match scheduled for the day will feature Cape Town City FC facing Sekhukhune United at Malta Park at 10 am.
