Morgan Mammila suffers humiliating loss, CT Spurs claim first victory
Morgan Mammila has suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss with Baroka FC against Upington City FC in the second match of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
Baroka are winless in the new NFD campaign after playing to a 1-1 draw against Orbit College FC last weekend. Morgan Mammila, who took the coaching role at ‘Bakgakga’ in the off-season, publicly claimed that his side would collect 60 points to win the Championship league title.
The administrator-turned-coach was in charge of Baroka FC in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs; however, he failed to help the side gain promotion to the SA top-flight.
Elsewhere, Cape Town Spurs claimed their first win of the campaign after beating Venda FC 1-0 at Sports Stadium on Friday.
In their previous match, ‘The Urban Warriors’ drew 0-0 with AmaTuks last Saturday at Tuks stadium. CT Spurs were relegated to the Championship after spending one season in the elite league.

Meanwhile, AmaTuks edged Pretoria Callies 1-0 in the Tshwane derby at TUT stadium on Saturday to collect all three points.
The Tlisane Motaung-coached team will be looking to push for automatic promotion to the Premiership after falling short in the playoffs last season.
In addition, Black Leopards defeated Leruma United 2-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. Leruma United is new in the second tier after purchasing the status of Marumo Gallants, who bought Moroka Swallows.
The Venda-based side is unbeaten in the new season after playing to a 1-1 draw against Highbury FC last weekend.
