Sammy Seabi in talks with Mamelodi Sundowns for permanent exit

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi appears poised to leave the club permanently, with his representatives currently in discussions with ‘The Brazilians.

The 29-year-old has been in the books of the Tshwane giants since 2019, joining from Polokwane City FC during Pitso Mosimane’s tenure.

During his time at Chloorkop, he has had three loan spells at the now-defunct Moroka Swallows, Chippa United and Sekhukhune United.

Last season, Seabi made only four league appearances despite Sundowns participating in six competitions, including the CAF Champions League.

The player’s agent, Mike Makaab, revealed to this website that they have been in talks with Sundowns to facilitate a permanent move for the midfielder.

They are hoping that the player completes the transfer prior to the closure of the PSL transfer window on 20 September.

SAMMY SEABI’S AGENT GIVES UPDATE ON THE PLAYER’S FUTURE

“We are still busy talking to Mamelodi Sundowns, but both the club and ourselves are on the same page. We don’t think another loan move for Sammy would be the right thing,” Makaab told FARPost.

“We’ve got to get Sammy’s career back on track, and you know that as well as Sammy has done when he’s gone on loan, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s very difficult for a football player to be on loan and feel that they belong.

“I’m hoping that before the closing of the window we would have resolved this issue. It doesn’t benefit any of us for Sammy to go on loan.

“And for me, that would be, let’s say, the last price. If we have to because it’s good for the player, we will do that. But preferably, we’d like to look at something outright.”

Makaab added that they have initiated discussions with some clubs and are awaiting potential interest.

“We have already engaged a number of clubs; we are just waiting for a potential interest,” he continued.
