Delano Abrahams on Godfrey Sapula’s influence on his game

Magesi FC attacker Delano Abrahams has opened up on his former coach Godfrey Sapula and how he helped him take his game to another level.

Abrahams is one of the new faces recently unveiled by Betway Premiership side Magesi.

The 28-year-old was signed after two impressive seasons at the University of Pretoria [AmaTuks] in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Abrahams worked with Sapula at Mamelodi Sundowns feeder team M-Tigers, which plays in the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League, before his move to Hungry Lions in 2021.

HOW GODFREY SAPULA HELPED IMPROVE MAGESI FC FORWARD’S GAME

“He helped me a lot. Coming from the ABC League where I was playing, obviously, the things we did and the set-up, we didn’t have a lot of resources and things that we can do,” he told FARPost.

“So going to Sundowns M-Tigers with Sapula, he pushed, not just me, but a lot of us. He always wanted the best of us. That’s how it was,” he explained.

“A very good coach. He always wants hard work, and I think that’s one of the things that was good for me to have played for him. But a good coach who loves his players. Always there pushing hard and motivating players to do better. That’s the kind of coach that he was.”

DELANO ABRAHAMS GRATEFUL FOR THE TIME SPENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA

“I honestly enjoyed my time there—a very good club with a good structure. For a player to go to Tuks is massive,” he said on his stay with AmaTuks.

“Everything is tops, my man. The coaching and facilities are very professional. So I really enjoyed my time there. The coach wanted hard workers and players who were very disciplined.

“So I think my time there helped me a lot and shaped me as a player. I am very grateful to the coach there. He helped me a lot in terms of how to improve my game.”
