Dan Malesela confirms arrival of ex-Chiefs and Pirates stars at Gallants

Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela has confirmed the arrival of ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates stars Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Xola Mlambo for the new Betway Premiership season.

The Free State-based side returned to the SA’s top-flight after purchasing the status of Maroka Swallows a few months ago.

Gallants failed to gain automatic promotion to the Premiership after finishing 11th on the log in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa were relegated to the NFD at the end of the 2022/23 season following an inconsistent run of form.

In the same season, Gallants had a dream run in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they lost in the semi-final against Tanzanian side Young Africans SC.

DAN MALESELA REVEALS THE SIGNING OF MLAMBO AND MAHLATSI

With Malesela working to build a formidable side ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, the tactician has revealed that they signed Mahlatsi and Mlambo.

Mahlatsi has been a free agent since parting ways with Chippa United two months ago. The attacking midfield was in the books of Chippa for six months after signing with the club in the 2024 January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Mlambo has been without a club for the whole last season following his unpleasant exit from TS Galaxy. ‘Ten Ten’ endured a grueling legal battle with Galaxy to get his clearance and outstanding salaries.

“We have signed Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Xola Mlambo already, we just need to make a formal announcement,” Malesela said at the Betway Premiership launch.

Other players that Gallants have signed include Daniel Msendami, Phathutshedzo Nange, Rewaldo Prins, Mbulelo Wagaba, Washington Arubi, Tshepo Rikhotso, and, Mpho Chabatsane.

Marumo Gallants will open the new season with a mouth-watering encounter against Kaizer Chiefs at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, 14th September 2024. Kickoff is at 17h00.
