Clinton Larsen explains the departure of his new signing
Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has explained why the club parted ways with Lebogang Mabotja without him kicking a ball.
FARPost reported earlier this week that Mabotja left the club despite being unveiled as one of the new players.
The former Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants player is now a free agent. Larsen has since explained why led to the surprise departure of the 32-year-old leaving the Betway Premiership side

“That was not my call. I wanted the player because I am the person that recruited him,” explained Larsen.
“It was a contractual issue that led to him leaving the club. I spoke to him after he left, and I wished him the best. Unfortunately, these are things that happen in football, but it was all contractual and nothing else.”
WHY CLINTON LARSEN DOESN’T WANT TO BE NAIVE ABOUT THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP
Larsen has once again reiterated that the ambitions of the club are to save the status first before thinking about other milestones.
“I am not naïve enough to talk about the top four or top eight or winning a trophy,” he said.
“I have been in this league for a long time, and I know how difficult it is. So, for me, it’s the old cliche of trying to get to 30 points as quickly as possible. Once we have reached that target, the task is now to look at how many games are left and what the second target is.”
“So, for us, it is all about survival. It’s about competing, but most importantly, it’s about enjoying what is being presented to us as a club, and that is participating in the Betway Premiership.”
Magesi FC will open their campaign with a Limpopo derby against Sekhukhune United at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
