Broos drops hint on Bafana possible changes for South Sudan clash
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has dropped a hint on what changes should be expected when they take on South Sudan on Tuesday.
South Africa dropped points at home on Friday, starting the AFCON qualifiers with a 2-2 draw against Uganda at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
Broos had aimed for maximum points from both fixtures. Securing a victory against South Sudan would allow the team to accumulate a total of four points.
The coach expressed concerns regarding goalkeeper Mothwa’s mental readiness, suggesting that he may not feature in the starting eleven if he doesn’t get better following a blunder he made leading to Uganda’s second goal.
Broos believes that including the AmaZulu FC goalkeeper could pose a risk and potentially lead to further mistakes.
HUGO BROOS ON WHO MIGHT BE DROPPED AGAINST SOUTH SUDAN
“It’s not a nice thing for a goalkeeper when he makes such a mistake,” said Broos.
“Okay, it’s 1-1 but as a keeper you know what you’ve done. We could have lost the game with that.
“He’s really down for the moment, but we will see in the next days. If you feel he’s not ready to play the game on Tuesday [against South Sudan].
“Then you can’t put him because the risk is there that he makes the mistake again.”
Broos went on to express his concerns about the sharpness of other players in the team due to the lack of competitive games in local football.
However, he stated they would find a way to work around the issue. He further affirmed there would be more changes in the team.
MORE CHANGES TO EXPECT ON TUESDAY?
“We will try to find a solution next Tuesday, and certainly not starting to doubt this one or that one,” he added.
“But you can be sure there will be changes in the team that’s for sure.”
