TS Galaxy sign ex-Stellenbosch midfielder
Former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga has officially secured a move to TS Galaxy, FARPost has learnt.
Mgaga has been training with the Betway Premiership side for a few weeks. This follows his surprise exit at ‘Stellies’, where he spent the past two seasons.
The 28-year-old played a significant role in helping Stellenbosch be crowned the champions of the first edition of the Carling Knockout and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Mgaga made 63 appearances for the Steve Barker-coached side, scoring once and recording five assists. He had joined the club in June 2022 from Baroka FC. After he departed from the Cape Winelands, Mgaga was linked with a move to AmaZulu FC. But the move did not materialise.
He first broke into the professional scene in 2018 after signing for now-defunct Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM]. That’s where he attracted interest from top-flight teams, with Baroka eventually winning the race for his signature.
NHLANHLA MGAGA MOVES TO A NEW HOME IN THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP
This publication has now established that after impressing the technical team, which includes head coach Sead Ramovic, Mgaga has signed on the dotted line with TS Galaxy.
‘The Rockets’ have made a splash in the transfer market, securing the services of several high-profile players. Joining the club alongside Mgaga are Siphesihle Maduna, Victor Letsoalo, Emanuel Seih, Jegbay Morris, Khulumani Ndamane. Thamsanqa Masiya, Qobalwakhe Sibande, Ntiyiso Bombi, and Olwethu Khumalo.
Despite finishing a commendable sixth place in the league last season, just a point shy of the CAF Confederation Cup, Galaxy have also faced significant departures. Key players like Fiacre Ntwari, Lehlohonolo Mojela, and Pogiso Sanoka have been sold to Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch, and SuperSport United, respectively.
Mgaga will be eager to make his Galaxy debut when they start their Betway Premiership campaign with clash against Richards Bay FC.
The league tie will be staged in KZN on the 15th of September.
