Casric Stars forced to look for temporary home venue
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars has been forced to look for a temporary home venue following the closure of the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga.
The club has been utilising the venue since buying the first division status from Free State Stars in 2022. They also took some of their matches to the Giyani Stadium in Limpopo last season.
SOLOMON MAHLANGU STADIUM IN KWAMHLANGA HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY CLOSED
Casric were scheduled to host Black Leopards at Kwamhlanga on Saturday afternoon. But the stadium no longer meets the PSL standards.
It resulted in the match being moved to Thohoyandou as a Leopards home fixture. The issues raised by the PSL include pockets of patches on the playing field.
The Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, which is also responsible for the facility, has also issued a public notice regarding the closure of the stadium.
“Cordially note that the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium will be temporarily closed from the 9th to the 29th of September 2024 for correction of partial defects on the pitch,” the Municipality said.
“The above comes as a result of concerns that have since been raised with the Municipality by the Premier Soccer League [PSL] regarding pockets of patches on the pitch and its overall strength thereof.
“The Municipality has since communicated with relevant Stakeholders [Teams] that have their matches scheduled at the stadium to temporarily utilise other venues while the defects are attended to. We apologise for the inconvenience that this causes.”
CASRIC STARS WILL NEED ANOTHER VENUE FOR THEIR FIXTURE AGAINST ORBIT COLLEGE
The club has already hosted SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Champions Highbury. Their only other match scheduled for the month of September will be against Orbit College. They will travel to JDR Stars before hosting Orbit College.
