Who will be Nabi’s point of difference?: Ex-Chiefs attacker shares his thoughts
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs attacker Kelvin Mushangazhike has picked two players that he thinks will be the point of difference for Nasreddine Nabi.
There is a renewed wave of hope that Chiefs could account for some silverware in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
Unlike what was expected, Nabi did not push for wholesome changes at the club, as he bestowed faith in the bulk of players that were already there.
On the transfer market, Chiefs flexed their muscles to add more firepower to the team. They signed Bongani Sam from Orlando Pirates, Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy and Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs.
Attacker Gaston Sirino also joined Amakhosi from Mamelodi Sundowns, and defender Inacio Miguel was lured from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda.
While most of the signings are highly-rated, Mushangazhike has identified two players he believes will be more impactful for Nabi.
FORMER ATTACKER KELVIN MUSHANGAZHIKE TIPS SIRINO AND RANGA CHIVAVIRO TO SHINE FOR NABI
The 2004 PSL winner believes Sirino and Chivaviro will be the point difference this season in Nabi’s side.
“I was thrilled to hear the club signed Sirino. He is such a player, the creative link that we have missed in recent times,” Mushangazhike told FARPost.
“He did well at Sundowns, and I believe he will do even better during his stay at Chiefs. If you look at the last seasons, the team has not had the creative hub.
“Midfielder grafters are there but that clean pass has been missed. Sirino has that Midas touch needed by the team. I think that is what Nabi has successfully done by having Sirino signed. And that also means Ranga Chivaviro will see his full potential unleashed.
“The whole of last season, what made Ranga look unlike himself is lack of that supply, that player who will be there to provide consistent, clean passes in the final third.
“For me, this is a season in which I feel Chiefs will be a beast because they are unpredictable. No one knows what to expect from them under Nabi and his technical team. But to me, Sirino and Ranga will make a difference; they both have points to prove.”
What gives Mushangazhike confidence is how Sirino fared at Sundowns before being offloaded at the end of last season.
He was part of the Sundowns team that won seven consecutive league titles. In 202 games, he scored 41 goals while providing 44 assists.
