Miguel Inacio picks 4 players that have impressed him at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs’ new defender Miguel Inacio has singled out four players that have impressed him at his new club.

The Angolan arrived at Amakhosi last month and has been part of their last leg of preparations for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

He is one of seven players Amakhosi have brought in to strengthen their squad. Bongani Sam, Bradley Cross, Rushwin Dortley, Njabulo Blom, Gaston Sirino and Fiacre Ntwari are the other signings.

The former Petro de Luanda defender is expected to provide leadership at the back for Amakhosi. In the last two seasons, the club has conceded 33 goals.

Interestingly, Inacio has expressed admiration for Ashley Du Preez, Samkelo Zwane, Yusuf Maart, and Ranga Chivaviro, highlighting their technical skills and leadership qualities.

The Angolan international specifically mentioned that Du Preez’s speed and agility would challenge him to improve his defensive positioning. He also praised Zwane’s composure and skill on the ball, acknowledging that he could learn a lot from him.

The 28-year-old defender also recognised Maart’s leadership as the team’s captain. Lastly, Inacio mentioned Chivaviro’s strength and physicality, noting the healthy competition between them during training.

“Generally, they are all very technical, and I will learn a lot from them,” he told journalists. “For example, Ashley Du Preez is the first I will from because I have to go behind him [in training]. Also, [Samkelo] Zwane is very technical in the middle. He’s very comfortable on the ball. I will also learn from Yusuf [Maart]; he’s a leader and the captain. Also, Ranga [Chivaviro], he gives me trouble in training because he’s very strong. We will learn a lot from each other; it’s very good for us.”

Inacio’s comments highlight the positive atmosphere at Naturena and his eagerness to learn and improve alongside his new teammates.

He will be hoping to start off on a positive note when they play Marumo Gallants on Saturday at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
