PSL star advises Ramoreboli’s Jwaneng Galaxy ahead Pirates tie

A PSL star has given a word of advice to Morena Ramoreboli’s Jwaneng Galaxy ahead of their CAF Champions League tie against Orlando Pirates.

Jwaneng Galaxy and Orlando Pirates are slated to clash on Saturday, 14 September, at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana, in the tournament’s second preliminary round.

This fixture has got the Botswana football fraternity abuzz as they anticipate a repeat of last term’s feat. Last time, Pirates were humbled in a match played at the same venue. They lost 1-0, with Daniel Msendami scoring the priceless goal.

Pirates then won by the same margin in the reverse fixture played at the Orlando Stadium, and the tie had to be decided on penalties. And Galaxy were perfect in the shoot-out as they converted all their spot kicks, forcing Pirates out of the tourney last campaign.

However, The Buccaneers are out to ensure they improve on their 2023/24 campaign after they crashed early.

Msendami, who scored for Ramoreboli’s team in their last meeting in Botswana, has advised the Botswana side. Msendami is now in the books of Betway Premiership side, Marumo Gallants.

“Definitely, it’s a very tough game. They must never be complacent and overconfident because of the result of last time. Pirates is a big team,” Msendami said.

The winner of this tie will qualify for the group stages. How the two teams will fare in this two-legged affair remains to be seen.

But the Soweto giants appear more dangerous this time around. Pirates has been high in terms of confidence as they have cruised nicely in the MTN8. As defending champions, they booked a spot in the final after beating Cape Town City FC over two-legs.

TSHEGOFATSO MABASA IN BULLISH MOOD

Pirates marksman Tshegofatso Mabasa believes they have renewed energy to undo the mark left by Galaxy in the last campaign.

“A lot of people have been talking about the Jwaneng game and what happened last season. But this is a new season; this is a new Orlando Pirates, one that manages to create a lot of chances and take chances.

“Going to the game, we are very motivated because, as I have always said before, this club deserves to play in the Champions League each and every season.

“Not only playing there. But to compete is exactly what we are going there to do this coming weekend. It will be a difficult encounter, but we are well prepared for it,” Mabasa said.
