Baroka FC claim first win of the season, Milford remain unbeaten

Baroka FC claimed the first win of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship season after beating Hungry Lions FC 1-0 on Saturday at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley, Northern Cape

The Limpopo-based side opened the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Orbit College FC before suffering a humiliating 4-1 loss against Upington City FC last weekend at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium.

Baroka’s slow start to the season prompted the club’s management to part ways with the head coach, Morgan Mammila. The administrator-turned-coach left Baroka FC after taking over the reins two months ago from Dan Malesela.

Elsewhere, Milford FC remained unbeaten in the second-tier league after playing to a goalless draw against Cape Town Spurs on Saturday at Princess Magogo Stadium.

The KZN-based outfit occupies the top spot on the log standings with seven points. Milford won two of their opening league games against Venda FC and JDR Stars before drawing against CT Spurs this past weekend.
