Orlando Pirates midfielder makes move to Chippa United
Betway Premiership side Chippa United have confirmed the arrival of Orlando Pirates midfielder Siphelo Baloni and a Tanzanian left-back.
The 24-year-old Baloni joined The Buccaneers last season from the now-defunct All Stars after impressing in the club’s colours in the Motsepe Foundation.
Since joining Pirates, he has struggled for game time, featuring in only 13 matches in all competitions in his first season.
The Soweto giants have now taken a decision to loan him to The Chilli Boys under the watchful eye of Kwane Kopo. Chippa confirmed the move during the official launch of their new kit on Monday.
“The 2024/25 season is designed to embody the passion, pride, and resilience of our beloved club. This momentous occasion also saw the introduction of our latest signings, who are set to strengthen the squad and bring fresh energy to the team,” reads the club statement.

The event was attended by, amongst others, the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, who assured their continued support for the club.
Club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi also shared his insights and enthusiasm about the upcoming 2024/25 season. Mpengesi highlighted the club’s commitment to achieving better results and further strengthening the squad to compete at the highest level in the Premier Soccer League.
“As we embark on this new chapter, we call on the unwavering support of our loyal Chilli fans to stand by us. Don the new kit with pride, and join us in making this season unforgettable,” he was quoted by the club.
So far the players that have joined Chippa for the 2024/25 new campaign includes Giovanni Philander [Steenberg United], Andile Jali [free agent], Sifiso Mazibuko [Jomo Cosmos], Samkelo Jali [Maritzburg United] Xolani Sithole [Pretoria Callies], Thobani Jacobs [Pretoria Callies], Aphelele Teto [Livingston], Azola Matrose [Orlando Pirates], Boy Madingwane [Baroka], Malebogo Modise [Mamelodi Sundowns].
