SuperSport United confirm two new signings
Betway Premiership side SuperSport United has confirmed two new signings to bolster their squad going into the 2024/25 season.
SuperSport United are set to open their 2024/25 campaign with a date against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday in the Tshwane Derby.
The first instalment of the Tshwane Derby in the league will be played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 19h30.
In addition, as they are set to renew their rivalry with cross-town rivals Sundowns, the Gavin Hunt-coached side revealed two new signings.
WHO SUPERSPORT UNITED SIGNED
They acquired the services of Chad international defender Eric Mbangossoum and Nokutenda Mangezi of Zimbabwe.
“SuperSport United is pleased to announce the signing of Chad international defender Eric Mbangossoum [24] and Zimbabwean striker Nokutenda Mangezi [19]on one-year deals with options to renew,” the club posted on their official Facebook page.
Consequently, Real Betis Academy Zimbabwe Director Gerald Sibanda is elated by the move of one of his best strikers at the academy. Additionally, Mangezi is their first product to be signed by a Betway Premiership side.
“Our boy will wear jersey nine and likely debut his against Sundowns tomorrow. Our first big move in our fourth anniversary in Zimbabwe,” Sibanda told FARPost.
Mbangossoum joins the club from UTS Rabat of Morrocco after a two-year spell where he helped them finish runners-up in the Botola 2 league.
Further, the 24-year-old also boosts of six international caps for Chad. His signing expands Matsatsantsa’s options in defence.
Add to that, 19-year-old striker Mangezi joins compatriot Terrence Dzvukamanja, who is already in SuperSport United’s forward line-up.
In addition, he could have a chance to fill the shoes of the team’s veteran striker, Bradley Grobler, who has a long-term injury.
SUPERSPORT UNITED’S OTHER SIGNINGS
The duo joins Hunt’s growing list of signings. First, they signed Pogiso Sanoka, who joined from TS Galaxy, and Nyiko Mobbie, who came from Sekhukhune United.
They retained Ricardo Goss, who is on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns while pinning down Vincent Pule from Orlando Pirates.
Brooklyn Poggenpoel joined from Chippa United, while Thakasani Mbanjwa and Keanin Ayer joined from Moroka Swallows and Naestved BK, respectively. Moreover, they also parted ways with Shandre Campell, who now plays in Belgium.
