Sundowns set to loan out Sipho Mbule, Sekhukhune emerge as favourites
Mamelodi Sundowns are set to loan out midfielder Sipho Mbule, with Sekhukhune United emerging as favourites to secure the midfielder’s services for the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
Mbule has struggled with injuries throughout his time at the club, significantly limiting his playing time. In the previous 2022/23 season, Mbule appeared in just 22 matches across all competitions for Masandawana.
Despite his limited minutes, the highly-rated midfielder showcased glimpses of his talent, scoring one goal and providing assists. However, Mbule was primarily used as a second-half substitute, unable to fully showcase his abilities.
Mbule joined Sundowns from SuperSport United at the beginning of the 2022/23 season on a long-term contract. In his debut season, the midfielder, affectionately known as MasterChef, made 29 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
SIPHO MBULE FACING TOUGH COMPETITION AT SUNDOWNS
With Mbule facing tough competition from players such as Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Rivaldo Coetzee, Marcello Allende, and Sphelele Mkhulise in the midfield position, FARPost has established that the holding midfielder is on his way out of the club on loan.
Indications are that Mbule is not on the plans of the Sundowns technical team led by Manqoba Mngqithi, Steve Komphela, and Romain Folz.
Interestingly, Sekhukhune are looking to sign the 26-year-old on loan as they are eager to compete both on the continent and locally.
His agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed they are seriously looking to get a loan move for his client to get game-time.
“We are seriously looking to get a loan move for Sipho Mbule in the current transfer window to get some playing minutes,” Makaab told FARPost when asked about Mbule’s future.
Meanwhile, Mbule is yet to feature for the Chloorkop-based side in the new season, both in the MTN8 and CAF Champions League.
Mbule will follow Luvuyo Phewa, Etiosa Ighodaro, Ismail Watenga, Siyanda Msani, Thabang Sibanyoni, Ricardo Goss, Sfiso Ngobeni, and, Matias Esquivel who have all went out on loan by Sundowns.
