Pablo Franco on whether AmaZulu FC will renew interest in unattached Nurkovic

AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has responded to the question of whether the club is open to renewing their interest in former target Samir Nurkovic after he became unattached.

The 32-year-old striker recently became a free agent after leaving TS Galaxy last week, having spent only one season with the team.

Reports indicated that Usuthu had shown interest in the Serbian forward, but the move couldn’t materialise as the clubs couldn’t find each other over transfer fees.

Nurkovic had to return to pre-season training with the Mpumalanga-based club and was with them until the two parties went their separate ways just a few days before the PSL transfer window closes.

Martin’s response was somewhat vague when asked whether the club would be open to bringing Nurkovic.

He said the club may consider certain players when the timing is appropriate for their acquisition but noted that “things change and timing changes.”

Furthermore, he indicated that there have been no discussions recently regarding Nurkovic since his departure from Galaxy.

IS SAMIR NURKOVIC’S MOVE TO AMAZULU STILL POSSIBLE? PABLO FRANCO ANSWERS

“This is the question for the Director of Football, and I don’t know at what point the things are with this player,” said Martin.

“At some point, we could target the players and the things change, the timing change. As I told you, we are really happy and confident about the players we have.

“If there’s an opportunity, and the club feels the opportunity is going to strengthen the team, we, as the technical staff, see the same, everything is possible. I know because I have the experience of last season that in this context, things will happen till the last day.

“But this player, to be honest right now, is not someone that we have had any discussion about.”

Meanwhile, FARPost recently revealed that SuperSport United have emerged as a potential destination for the Serbian forward.

This is after Matsatsantsa striker Bradley Grobler sustained a long-term injury. However, having not put pen to paper, Nurkovic’s signature can still be secured by any interested club.
