Seema speaks out on Sipho Mbule’s Sekhukhune United links

Sekhukhune United coach Lehlohonolo Seema has addressed the recent speculation linking midfielder Sipho Mbule to a potential move to the Betway Premiership club.

The transfer window in the PSL is rapidly closing, with Friday, September 20, 2024, marking the deadline as confirmed by the league. Amidst this flurry of transfer activity, Mamelodi Sundowns star Mbule is poised to embark on a loan spell for the upcoming Betway Premiership season.

As reported by local media and FARPost, Sekhukhune are currently the frontrunners to secure the talented midfielder’s services.

Babina Noko kicked off their inaugural Betway Premiership campaign with a 1-0 victory over newcomers Magesi FC at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday evening.

This win served as a much-needed boost after the club suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to C.D. Lunda Sul in the away-leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup over the weekend.

Seema clarified that the Mbule rumours were unfounded but acknowledged that Sekhukhune remained open to potential signings before the transfer window closed. He didn’t explicitly dismiss the possibility of Mbule joining the Limpopo-based club.

He went on to reveal that they would like to sign more players not because they have CAF football commitments but because they want to have a balanced squad moving forward, as injuries do happen.

“Definitely, there is news here. The rumours, let’s keep it as rumours like that for now,” said Seema after Sekhukhune’s game against Dikwena tsa Meetse.

“But, as long as the window is still open, that’s for sure maybe one or two [players will join us], we can see. The games in the Betway Premiership are already going to be on top of one another.

“We are going to spend two weeks here [in Polokwane]. We are going to play four games here. So, as long as we got depth because injuries would come and a lot of things can happen.”

Seema continued: “It’s not about CAF football, but it’s all about the fact that we want to have a balance in our squad so that each and every game, we can have a good team.”
