Sibusiso Mabiliso opens up on the move to Baroka FC

Former Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC defender Sibusiso Mabiliso believes the move to Baroka FC is what he needs to revive his career.

Mabiliso was officially unveiled by the Motsepe Foundation Championship side on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old joins the Lebowakgomo-based club on a season-long deal. His last competitive match was in October 2023 while still at AmaZulu FC.

He has been linked with a move to various clubs and also had a week-long trial with Betway Premiership newcomers Magesi FC.

The former SA junior International says the environment in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, outside of the cities, might just be what he needs.

“So far so good I have no complaints and I think this is the environment that I needed,” he told FARPost.

“I am also used to this kind of environment because even where I am from, it’s the same. So I feel this will help me to rebuild and focus more on the field,” added Mabiliso.

“I also love the professionalism at this club and this is an ambitious club that wants to get promoted back to the Premiership.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a lifeline, but obviously, as a player, we all want to see ourselves playing at the highest level. So my aim at this point is to help the team get back to the top,” he said.

WHY THE FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS DEFENDER OPTED FOR A MOVE TO MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP

“We had a chat with my agent, and the agent was straightforward in saying the chairman [of Baroka, Khurishi Mphahlele] wants you; how do I feel? I then said I was open to it.

“I then spoke to the chairman. He shared the ambitions of the team. I also shared my ambition, which is to play in the premiership.”

Mabiliso is in line to make his debut when Baroka FC face Kruger United at the Global Village on Saturday.
