Clinton Larsen hints at deadline day signings for Magesi FC

Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has hinted at potential transfer activity on the final day of the transfer window, suggesting that the newly-promoted Betway Premiership side may bolster their squad before the deadline.

Magesi began life in the SA elite league with a 1-0 defeat by Sekhukhune United in the Limpopo Derby on Wednesday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The club has brought in a mixture of experienced as well as some new faces to the team. With the transfer window closing on Friday evening, Larsen has revealed what he has told the club’s hierarchy.

WILL MAGESI FC MAKE MORE SIGNINGS BEFORE THE TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY?

“Possibly [on potential transfers]. All I can do is try to give names to management, and it’s up to them whether they bring the players or not,” said Larsen.

“That’s what I will do; Friday evening, the window closes. So we will try and see if we can reinforce. There are certain areas that I do think need strengthening. But like I said, I also understand that we have budgetary constraints as a club.

“We are not a big club with a big budget. So if the answer is we can’t bring anybody, I understand as a coach, and I just got to work with what I got,” he said

The 53-year-old also reflected on the historic occasion of the club playing their first match in top-flight football.

“I was so happy for the club. What a day for everybody involved at the club. The club made history to be in this position,” he said.

“The next thing I am happy about is the debutants; they played their first game on the PSL [stage]. That was me 30 years ago. I know how they felt; I know how they felt, representing not only themselves but their families. So those were the two key things that I was proud of today.”
