DDC: Pirates secure second consecutive victory as AmaZulu pick first win
Orlando Pirates secured a second consecutive victory in the DStv Diski Challenge as AmaZulu FC picked their first win of the season.
The Buccaneers commenced the season slowly, having dropped points with draws against both AmaZulu [0-0] and Cape Town City [2-2]. They then bounced back with a 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants.
Today – Saturday, they grabbed maximum points after defeating Sekhukhune United 1-0 in a match that was played at the Isak Steyl Stadium (VUT).
In a match that was tightly contested, Siphamandla Msezane netted the sole goal, leading Pirates to their second successive win.
Ezimnyama Ngenkani have risen to second place as they have accumulated eight points in four matches
Sekhukhune, on the other hand, have suffered three defeats and collected one win in four games they have played so far.
VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI’S FIRST WIN AT AMAZULU
Meanwhile, Vusimuzi Vilakazi’s AmaZulu FC won their first match this campaign, defeating Chippa United with a slender 1-0 victory.
Tebogo Mashigo rattled in the late goal to help the Durban-based side keep the maximum points at home in a match held under rainy conditions at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
AmaZulu came to this match having drawn three of their previous matches. They are now sitting in the fifth position with six points in the bag after four matches. Moreover, TS Galaxy and Golden Arrows played out to a 1-1 draw in a match that was played at Sturrock Park.
The final match of the day was supposed to be the KwaZulu-Natal derby between Royal AM and Richards Bay.
However, the match was forfeited as Thwihli Thwahla did not have sufficient players registered to play this season.
As previously reported by FARPost, when the league commenced, the club had eight players registered, which is insufficient to form a complete team of eleven players.
