Thendo Mukumela tips Leopards star for another golden boot award this season
Black Leopards defender Thendo Mukumela has tipped one of the club’s star players to win the Golden Boot in the 2024/25 season.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship started towards the end of August. To date, all the teams have played three matches each.
Under Ghanaian coach Maxwell Konadu, Leopards have collected four points after a win, a draw and a defeat.
This season, they will be aiming to improve their performances as Lidoda Duvha finished 10th last campaign.
THENDO MUKUMELA ON BETHUEL MUZEU
Mukumela believes Namibian striker Bethuel Muzeu will have a great campaign like the previous one. In the 2023/24 season, the 24-year-old shared the Golden Boot with Prince Nxumalo of JDR Stars after racking up 17 goals respectively. In the current campaign, he has yet to find the back of the net.
“He’s a very good guy, very religious ZCC, to be specific. He doesn’t fight with anyone, very good on the ball, very good goalscorer,” Mukumela told FARPost.
“He’s a very good motivator for the team, and he’s part of the captains’ team. Even this season, he’s still going to do well, he will finish at the top, he’s going to surprise a lot of people because I’ve heard a lot of criticism saying he should have left, he’s not going to do like he did last season.
“I beg to differ; he’s been doing well; we have played three games. He hasn’t scored yet, but he has an assist. If you remember, last season, in five matches, he didn’t have a goal, but he came to be a top scorer in the league. As a team, we believe in him, and we know he’s going to do well.”
Mukumela shared his thoughts while attending the NJM Top 8 Challenge in Rabali, Thohoyandou. This event, a brainchild of Nyambeni Jones Maphalaphathwa, the founder and group CEO of NJM Group of Companies, aims to give young talents in the Thohoyandou area a chance to shine.
Mezeu is expected to play when the Leopards face Orbit College on Sunday, September 22nd. Kickoff at Olympia Park Stadium is at 3PM.
