George Maluleka hints at next step after playing career
Kruger United midfielder George Maluleka has opened up on what career path he is likely to take once he hangs up his boots.
Maluleka recently joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship club from AmaZulu FC.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns player has been involved with football development through his George Maluleka Foundation, which hosts an annual school Sports tournament at Ga-Semenya in Limpopo.
WILL GEORGE MALULEKA CONSIDER COACHING AFTER HIS PLAYING CAREER?
The 35-year-old says coaching is something he could pursue once he has decided to call it quits.
“I will never write coaching off. I think as time goes on, I will probably be a coach. If not, then I will definitely have my coaching badges,” Maluleka told FARPost.
KRUGER UNITED MIDFIELDER PASSIONATE ABOUT GROOMING TBE YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE
“I am very big on youth, the next generation. Starting very young is important. So I think it’s very important that I keep in touch with that part of the game and groom them as they come.”
“There is a lot of talent out there, and I actually heard that there are not a lot of school tournaments. So I spoke to the department, and I asked them to have more tournaments like these in all the villages. I think a healthy body is a healthy mind, so it’s also good for education.”
With regards to how long he still wants to continue playing at a professional level, Maluleka had this to say. “I don’t want to put a limit to it.”
“But I still have some gas in my legs; I still have a lit. So the hard work and the grind start from here.”
Maluleka played his first official match for Kruger United during their 1-0 defeat to Baroka FC. He came in as a second-half substitute but could help his side as they suffered their second defeat of the season.
