Cape Town City FC announce massive initiative for their fans

Betway Premiership side Cape Town City FC have announced a free football for all initiative for their fans for eight of their home matches.

The club has parted with the City of Cape Town for matches that will be played at the Athlone Stadium.

The Citizens are yet to play a Betway Premiership match at home this season. They have only hosted Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 semi-finals.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the club confirmed that there will be free access at the 10,000-capacity Stadium.

“Cape Town City Football Club, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, is happy to announce an exciting #FreeFootballForAll initiative offering FREE access to our 8 home league games at Athlone Stadium, with 10,000 seats available for each match,” the club said.

“We are committed to breaking down barriers. So that everyone in our community can enjoy the sport that we all love, without the worry of cost. Football has the power to unite people. This is our way of giving back to our amazing fans in Cape Town, making the beautiful game accessible to all.”

FIXTURES THAT ARE LIKELY TO BE PLAYED AT ATHLONE STADIUM FOR THE CITIZENS

The first match that the club is scheduled to play at Athlone is against SuperSport United on Saturday, 28 September. Other fixtures that they will host at the venue are against Magesi FC, Polokwane City, Richards Bay, Golden Arrows, Chippa United TS Galaxy and Marumo Gallants.

Matches against the likes of Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will be played at DHL Stadium.

City started the season with a 1-1 draw against Royal AM. They will travel to neighbours Stellenbosch in their second match on Wednesday.
