Why Limpopo club roped in Tebogo Langerman and Punch Masenamela

Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Sunrise FC have revealed the reasons why they have roped in the former Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Tebogo Langerman and Punch Masenamela.

Langerman has joined the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League outfit as a player-coach, while Masenamela is part of the club’s co-coaching staff.

The ex-Masandawana pair will work alongside Sello Mosima and Thabiso Thobane within the club’s technical team in the 2024/25 campaign.

In addition, Langerman has already made his appearance for the amateur side when in the Nedbank Cup qualifiers over the weekend.

Unfortunately, ‘The Elite’, as they are commonly known, have been eliminated in the Nedbank Cup qualifiers after suffering a 4-3 defeat on penalties to Ngwaabe City Motors in their final match of the qualification round. The game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

WHY SUNRISE FC BROUGHT TEBOGO LANGERMAN AND PUNCH MASENAMELA

In an interview with FARPost, the club’s media officer and co-coach at Sunrise FC, Thabiso Thobane, stated that they have brought in Langerman and Masenamela simply to get the best out of their players on and off the field through people who have knowledge of the beautiful game and can motivate the youngsters.

“Well, we noticed that the upcoming players really need experienced players around them,” Thobane told this publication.

“This comes in two ways. The first is when they see someone who has been in the top-flight playing with them and, at the same time, coaching them; it motivates them.

“So, we thought that it could be something new to get the best out of our players because when you talk and do not demonstrate, sometimes it tends to be hard for them.”

Thobane further added: “And again, being a coach and a player at the same time, during games, it helps to transfer information to the young players. That is the kind of philosophy that we want to implement in the young ones through the experienced players.”

He [Thabiso Thobane] went on to state that they are in the negotiation phase with other experienced players who might join the club anytime soon, and they will make the announcement when everything has been finalised.
