‘He is like Sergio Agüero…’budding PSL star gets rave reviews

A PSL star who recently revealed his undying admiration for Knowledge Musona has received rave reviews, and he has been likened to ex-Manchester City star Sergio Agüero.

SuperSport United recently acquired the services of a budding Zimbabwean striker, Nokutenda Mangezi.

The 19-year-old striker promises to be worth the investment for the Gavin Hunt-coached side having been signed from Real Betis Academy in the capital city of Zimbabwe in Harare.

Mangezi started for Matsatsantsa in their Betway Premiership opener in the Tshwane Derby against Mamelodi Sundowns most recently. They lost 2-0, but the youthful forward exuded confidence throughout the match.

He played side by side with compatriot Terrence Dzvukamanja, who has been waxing lyrical about his qualities.

Mangezi is the first Real Betis Academy Zimbabwe product to make a move beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. In addition, he is the first Zimbabwean to join the PSL in two years.

In an interview with FARPost, striker Dzvukamanja likened Mangezi’s qualities to that of the retired Argentine striker Agüero.

“He is good. It’s not always that you see someone of his age getting a first start on the first match of the season,” Dzvukamanja told FARPost.

“He played against Sundowns on our first match by my side. For me that was a satisfying moment, I got to guide him as we sought goals.

“Unfortunately, it was not to be. We failed to score and eventually lost the match. However, as an individual player, he is exceptional and very confident.

“He is very clinical. From what I have seen, he has the qualities. He is like Sergio Agüero. He is fast and strong. All he needs is guidance so that he can reach his full potential.

“The critical thing for him is to get as much guidance as possible so that he does not get big-headed. There is still a lot of way to go in his development.”
