How Chippa, Baroka found common ground on Boy Madingwane
Boy Madingwane made his official debut for Chippa United on Saturday after the club found common ground with his ex-club Baroka FC. There has been a dispute between Baroka and Madingwane’s camp after the player signed a three-year deal with the Chilli Boys.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship side claimed that the 22-year-old signed without their knowledge as he still had a year left on his contract with them.
The dispute delayed Madingwane’s registration for the Chilli Boys for the new season. But the player was finally registered last week before the transfer window deadline on Friday. He came in as a second half substitute during the 1-0 win against Richards Bay.
CHIPPA UNITED REACH OUT TO MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB FOR NEW SIGNING
This publication has established that Chippa United had to pay an undisclosed amount to get the player. “Chippa Mpengesi called and we agreed on a deal,” Mphahlele confirmed to FARPost.
“I am happy for the boy, I am happy for the team as it will give other players courage to know that they are not playing for nothing but for their future.
“We wish him all the best, he should remain focused and we wish that one day he can play for Bafana Bafana. He is very good and I am happy for him because this move can now improve his life,” he said.
BAROKA FC BOSS UNHAPPY WITH HOW THE BOY MADINGWANE MATTER WAS HANDLED AT FIRST
Mphahlele also expressed his displeasure with how the issue was handled from the beginning.
“It was not necessary. We told them that he had a contract but someone decided not to believe us. But we proved that we were right,” he said.
“His career was in jeopardy because of some people who were acting on his behalf claiming that they knew the rules of football better than us. We run a football business but someone just comes and claims they know the rules but he is not running a single football club. It’s a pity because they are playing with people’s emotions. They are playing with the boy’s career. It’s greed, it’s unnecessary.”
