Sammy Seabi part ways with Sundowns: What are his options?

Mamelodi Sundowns have reached an agreement to part ways with midfielder Sammy Seabi on a ‘mutual consent’ in the aftermath of struggling for game-time.

The central midfielder received his clearance before the transfer window closed on the 20th of September, 2024. As a result, Seabi is free to join any club of his choice outside of the transfer window after leaving Downs before the closing of the window.

In the previous Betway Premiership season, Seabi only registered four games in all competitions under his belt. The 29-year-old returned to Sundowns from a loan spell with Sekhukhune United at the start of the 2023/24 season.

Seabi signed with Masandawana in 2019, and he has gone out on loan to teams such as Moroka Swallows, Chippa United, and Sekhukhune to get regular playing time.

The holding midfielder competed with Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Rivaldo Coetzee, Marcello Allende, and Sphelele Mkhulise for a starting place in the holding midfield position.

Following Seabi’s exit from Mamelodi Sundowns, FARPost has established that Polokwane City FC, Chippa United, and Magesi FC have shown interest in the midfielder.

His agent, Mike Makaab, has revealed that Seabi is a free agent after finalising a settlement to part ways before the transfer window closed last week.

“Sammy Seabi is a free agent, he has left Mamelodi Sundowns before the transfer window closed and he’s free to join any club.” the experienced agent said.

Meanwhile, Chippa head coach Kwanele Kopo admitted that they are looking to sign Seabi as he’s one of the most talented midfielders in SA football.

The return to Limpopo is also a big possibility, with his former club, Polokwane City and Magesi interested in his services. Before joining Sundowns, he was in the colours of Rise and Shine from 2016 to 2029.

In addition, Magesi, who gained promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the start of the current campaign, are looking to bring in Seabi to add experience to their squad.
