Marumo Gallants claimed their first win in the Betway Premiership under Dan Malesela after defeating AmaZulu FC 1-0 on Saturday night at the Toyota Stadium.

Before winning against AmaZulu, Gallants suffered three successive losses in the league. The Bloemfontein-based side went down to Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Marumo Gallants returned to SA’s top-flight at the start of the 2024/25 season after purchasing Moroka Swallows’ status.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will be looking to retain their status in the Premiership after collecting the first set of maximum points against the KZN-based side.

Elsewhere, SuperSport United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday. Interestingly, the win over Matsatsantsa was City’s first win of the season having drawn 1-1 against Royal AM in the season opener and lost 3-0 against Stellenbosch FC last Wednesday.

The Citizens also crashed out of the MTN8 semi-final after losing to Orlando Pirates last month.
