Durban City FC hand CT Spurs first defeat, Casric Stars go top of the table
Durban City FC handed Cape Town Spurs their first defeat in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after beating them 1-0 at the Chatsworth Stadium in KZN on Friday.
The Urban Warriors returned to the Motsepe Foundation after being relegated from the Betway Premiership at the end of the 2023/24 season.
In the current campaign, CT Spurs have won three games, drawn one, and lost once in five matches. They are sitting seventh in the log standings with eight points.
Elsewhere, Casric Stars moved to the summit of the table with 12 points after beating Orbit College 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday. Casric have had an impressive start to the new season, with four wins and one defeat in five games played thus far.
Before collecting maximum points against Orbit, the Mpumalanga-based side brushed aside teams such as Highbury, Black Leopards, and JDR Stars.

Meanwhile, Upington City FC claimed a convincing 3-1 win over Highbury FC at the Nelson Mandela University Stadium on Friday.
Bafana Ba Gucci are unbeaten in their last four matches in the second-tier since losing against JDR Stars on the 24th of August 2024. Upington are occupying fourth position on the log with 10 points.
In addition, Milford FC defeated Kruger United 3-1 at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday to remain unbeaten in the 2024/25 campaign.
The KZN-based have won three league matches and played two draws in five outings. They are sitting second on the league table with 11 points.
