Jose Riveiro gives Ndah and Saleng update ahead of MTN8 final

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has given an update on injured duo Olisa Ndah and Monnapule Saleng ahead of the MTN8 final next week.

Neither of them took part in the recent trip to Durban for the Betway Premiership match against Richards Bay FC, where the Buccaneers secured a 1-0 victory.

Both Saleng and Ndah were unable to complete the previous match against Polokwane City FC at Orlando Stadium due to injuries sustained during the game.

Gilberto and Innocent Maela filled in for them during the encounter against the Natal Rich Boyz at King Zwelithini Stadium.

When asked about the absence of the players following the match, Riveiro emphasised that he would not rest any player in preparation for the final.

He stated Ndah and Saleng were not available for selection for the match and it remains uncertain whether they will be fit to compete next Saturday against the Cape Winelands team.

RIVEIRO ON WHETHER OLISA NDAH AND MONNAPULE SALENG WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR MTN8 FINAL

“If you remember our last game against Polokwane City, both Olisa and Saleng were subbed because of two different injuries,” said Riveiro.

“That’s the reason they’re not here is because they couldn’t make it. They were not available for selection.

“And actually it’s not 100% sure that they are going to be there in the final as well. So, we’re not saving anybody because like I said before we’re taking every game like a final.

“We are giving the same respect to Richards Bay as the respect we are going to give Stellenbosch in the final.

“And that’s the way we want to do the things. So, there’s nothing like saving players, no not at all.”

Ndah has demonstrated consistency, securing a regular position and occasionally assuming the role of captain.

Meanwhile, Saleng has, once again, emerged as a pivotal player for the Sea Robbers, significantly contributing to the goals scored this season.
