Truter reveals ‘area of concern’ at Richards Bay FC
Richards Bay FC head coach Brandon Truter has identified a significant area of concern for his side after overseeing their first four matches of the season.
Truter was speaking after the Natal Rich Boyz fell to Orlando Pirates with a 1-0 scoreline at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday.
Richards Bay have lost two games out of four they have played in the Betway Premiership, drawing one and winning one.
Truter who took the reins just a few weeks before the start of the season has made a bold admission that they don’t have good enough quality in the striking department to be clinical in front of goal.
The Zululand outfit has managed to score only one goal in their first four games while conceding two in the process.
However, Truter noted some positives he has seen in the team that provide optimism for the future.
TRUTER ON WHERE RICHARDS BAY HAVE BEEN POOR
“Definitely, it’s an area of concern,” admitted Truter.
“You can coach and coach but it also boils down to quality. Let’s face it, we don’t have a Mabasa, we don’t have the luxury of top strikers.
“We have Sibanyoni, who was signed playing in the first division, we have Mbuthuma, young but will grow and [has] potential but needs to play to grow.
“We lost Ntsunswana with injury. So, it affects your attack.
“On the one side, you bring on Conco who also doesn’t have much game time. Kutumela as well, for the last two seasons you can count on your head how many games he’s played.
“So, it’s a work in progress. It’s only the fourth game but what’s good about this team is that they are coachable.
“And at this level, you should be looking to a bit more quality that can take the chances that we create in the game.
“Yeah, it’s a work in progress. It’s the fourth game but there’s lots of positives.”
