Lesedi Kapinga joins Sekhukhune United
Sekhukhune United have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Lesedi Kapinga.
The Limpopo club roped in Kapinga as the club looks to challenge for major titles in the 2024/25 PSL season. Sekhukhune confirmed the news on Thursday, 3 October 2024.
The talented midfielder joins Babina Noko after cutting ties with Soweto giants, Pirates before the start of the new campaign.
Kapinga had signed for the Buccaneers in July 2023 following his departure from the Chloorkop-based outfit Sundowns.
However, Kapinga struggled for game time at Pirates under the tutelage of Jose Riveiro. He only managed to play 13 games across all competitions in the Sea Robbers’ colours.
What happened at Pirates is similar to what occurred during his three-year stay at Bafana Ba Style, where he featured in 39 matches, scored four goals, and provided seven assists.
Kapinga joins players like Thabang Monare, Sipho Mbule, Njabulo Ngcobo, Relebogile Makhuane, Lloyd Kazapua, Keletso Makgalwa, Andy Boyeli, Joseph Maphaga, Camren Ashby, Shaune Mogaila, Vuyo Letlapa, Tshepo Mokoane, to mention a few who Sekhukhune signed before the start of the new season.
In his football career, he also represented teams such as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] and Black Leopards, where his career blossomed, attracting interest of big teams such as Sundowns.

“Sekhukhune United are delighted to announce the signing of Midfielder Lesedi Kapinga,” read the club’s statement.
“Welcome to the Babina Noko Family!”
Sekhukhune were not the only team interested in the experienced midfielder’s services. AmaZulu FC and SuperSport United were among the teams reported to have shown interest in signing Kapinga.
Kapinga will be hoping to add value to Sekhukhune’s midfield options and revive his football career under the guidance of coach Lehlohonolo Seema.
Sekhukhune are currently placed third on the table of the Betway Premiership with seven points after three games. They are just two points behind log leaders, Sundowns.
