PSL agrees to Hugo Broos request

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has thanked the Premier Soccer League [PSL] for granting him his request to start the camp two days earlier.

Bafana Bafana will take on Congo in the AFCON qualifiers on Friday, 11 October at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.

Broos charges will then travel to Congo for the return match on Tuesday, 15 October. The FIFA International break officials begin on Monday, 7 October until 15 October.

While naming his 23-member squad for the two fixtures, Broos revealed that the PSL has granted him permission to start the camp as early as Saturday.

HUGO BROOS A HAPPY MAN AFTER BEING GRANTED HIS WISH BY THE PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE

“I am very happy that the PSL agreed with my request,” he said.

“There is no competition; there is only the MTN8 Final.  So only the players of [Orlando] Pirates and Stellenbosch FC are playing on Saturday,” explained Broos.

“So, for me, that was the reason why I asked to start the camp on Saturday so that we can come together in camp on Saturday.”

BAFANA BAFANA COACH REVEALS PLANS OF AN EARLY CAMP IN GQEBERHA

“We fly to PE in the morning, and then we can train in the afternoon. So if we should have been together on Monday, we are wasting days. So we are very happy. Thank you [PSL] for agreeing to my request.”

Bafana are currently second in group K of the qualifiers. They have won one match against South Sudan away while they played to a draw at home against Uganda. Congo on the other hand are third in the group with just one win in two matches. The two top finishers in the group will qualify for the tournament to be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

South Africa finished third in the last AFCON Tournament held in Ivory Coast.
