Majoro reveals solution to get the best out of Chivaviro and Du Preez
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has shared valuable insights on how to bring out the best in Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley Du Preez, enabling them to deliver exceptional performances at the Soweto giants.
Chivaviro and Du Preez are two of Chiefs’ most prized possessions. They have established themselves as top-tier players in the PSL, having previously showcased their talents at Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC.
Chivaviro’s goal-scoring prowess was on full display in the 2022/23 season when he netted 17 times in 30 matches for Gallants. Du Preez also impressed during his time at Stellenbosch FC, contributing nine goals and three assists in 30 appearances in the 2021/22 campaign.
Last season, the duo struggled to score goals for the Soweto giants, and they constantly suffered injury setbacks. Chivaviro only scored four goals and Du Preez racked up six goals and provided two assists.
In the current 2024/25 season, Chivaviro has started on a good note, netting two goals in three matches in the Betway Premiership. As for Du Preez, he’s yet to score or assist in three games and has been used as a substitute.
LEHLOHONOLO MAJORO ON RANGA CHIVAVIRO AND ASHLEY DU PREEZ
The 38-year-old ex-Chiefs striker Majoro says the only way to get the best out of Chivaviro and Du Preez is to have a creative player supporting them when they make runs into the box.
Majoro gave an example of how Siphiwe Tshabalala supported him during his time at Chiefs.
Ahead of this season, the Glamour Boys bolstered their squad by signing a more creative player, former Mamelodi Sundowns star Gaston Sirino, as a free agent.
Sirino has already shown his class at Chiefs. In three appearances, the talented attacker has scored one goal and provided two assists.
“At Kaizer Chiefs, I had Shabba [Siphiwe Tshabalala], who knew that at any time I make a run without fail, he will put a cross and pinpoint me,” Majoro told FARPPost.
“[Ashley] Du Preez and Ranga [Chivaviro] need those kinds of players that will say keep making your runs, then we will give you a ball regardless, of first-time failure, second-time failure, or if you miss your one-on-one.
“That motivates you, and I don’t want to disappoint the team. Having such [creative] players that believe in your abilities gives you a high chance of scoring.”
