Barker gives update on yet to arrive Stellenbosch signing Kazie

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has given an update on why the new signing, Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill has yet to arrive in the country.

Stellies acquired the services of the right-back from Rivers United in September in the past PSL transfer window, replacing Deano van Rooyen who left the club in August.

The 27-year-old, van Rooyen switched to his dream club Orlando Pirates, ending a long stay at the Cape Winelands side.

With Kazie yet to arrive, Barker has been playing the centre-back Thabo Moloisane as a right-back or converting the midfielder, Kyle Jurgens at times.

Speaking after their defeat to Pirates in the MTN8 final, Barker revealed that Kazie had yet to enter the country due to Visa issues.

STEVE BARKER ON WHY ENYINNAYA KAZIE GODSWILL HAS YET TO ARRIVE

“Yeah, it’s been very frustrating,” said Barker.

“We hoped that by now he would have entered the country but we’re just continuing to have Visa problems

“And he has applied for his Visa, a visiting Visa to come to South Africa but that hasn’t been granted as yet.”

Kazie, who racked up more than 170 appearances for Rivers United before departing, is expected to strengthen the defence for the ever-growing Stellies.

Among the competitions he has played, he has also represented Rivers in more than 30 matches in continental stage [CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup].

The 25-year-old full-back will join his countryman Ibraheem Jabaar who returned to Stellenbosch FC from his loan spell at the Israel club M. Petah Tikva.

The Western Cape-based side also signed Brian Onyango, Faiz Abrahams, Omega Mdaka, Lehlohonolo Mojela, Sanele Barns, Ashley Cupido, Chumani Butsaka and Khomotjo Lekoloane.

On the other hand, besides van Rooyen, they also parted ways with Nhlanhla Mgaga, Iqraam Rayners, Antonio van Wyk, Qobolwakhe Sibande, Mervin Boji, Anicet Aura and Salifu Colley.
