What made Keletso Makgalwa more focused

Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa says that if he had been a devoted churchgoer a few years ago, he believes he would have been far in his career.

Makgalwa joined Babina Noko at the beginning of the current season but had already cemented a place in the starting team. The 27-year-old has revived his career at the Betway Premiership club since joining Upington City FC.

He faced a setback after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns, a club where he made his professional debut in 2018. He has since had stints at clubs such as Maritzburg United, Chippa United, All Stars, TS Galaxy and Upington.

Makgalwa has made an honest admission that being focused on the church has actually helped him grow as a person.

HOW CHURCH HAS HELPED KELETSO MAKGALWA’S CAREER GROWTH

“The biggest lesson for me was not focusing on God as I do now,” Makgalwa told FARPost.

“So I feel like I would have been far if I had the focus that I have right now and the focus that I had last season. Had I had the same focus before I think I would be somewhere else. I am an usher, by the way [at church].

“I was going to church at that time but I was not focused more on it. My lifestyle has been okay because I am a ZCC member,” he explained.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED STAR ENJOYING A NEW LEASE OF LIFE AT BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE

“My family are ZCC members, but for me as I was growing up, I realised I needed to choose my journey, and my journey was to join another church. This has helped me a lot, as long as I am the one who has chosen where I want to be. I will always be happy.”

Makgalwa is part of the Sekhukhune side that started the season like a house of fire. They are currently third on the Betway Premiership log after three matches played this year.
