Exciting fixtures set for Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16
The draw for the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup Round of 16 has delivered a mouthwatering slate of fixtures that promise to excite fans across South Africa.
The PSL confirmed the 2024/25 Carling Knockout Last 16 draw on Tuesday, 8 October 2024.
Some of the fascinating fixtures include SuperSport United against Kaizer Chiefs, with the defending champions, Stellenbosch FC, taking on AmaZulu FC.
The event took place at the Galleria in Sandton and was broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 202 and SABC Sport.
As per the competition rules and regulations, the Round of 16 draw was seeded.
The clubs that achieved the top eight positions in the SA elite league [Betway Premiership] last season were seeded, while the remaining teams were unseeded.
WHAT WAS THE DRAW PROCEDURE
a) The draw was conducted using three bowls, labelled Pot A, Pot B, and Pot C.
b) Pot A contained the names of the eight seeded clubs [those that finished in positions 1 to 8 in the previous Premiership season].
c) Pot B was empty and used to determine home and away designations.
d) Pot C contained the names of the remaining eight unseeded clubs.

All 16 teams in the Betway Premiership will be gunning to win the title of this year’s tournament, with Stellenbosch FC having won the inaugural Carling Knockout competition last term.
Stellies were crowned the Carling Knockout champions after defeating TS Galaxy 5-4 on penalties in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium last year. The game had ended 1-1 after extra time.
This season, the Cape Winelands-based club will be looking to defend their title, as they have demonstrated their capabilities by reaching the MTN8 final, where they lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates over the weekend.
The winner of the Carling Knockout will pocket R6.85 million, with the runner-up walking away with R2.85 million.
On the other hand, the semi-finalists will receive R1.35 million, the quarter-finalists will earn R850,000, and the teams knocked out in the last 16 will only gain R550,000.
The PSL will confirm the dates, venues and times in due time.
