Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm has opened up on his recent lack of playing time at the club.
Timm, who joined the Buccaneers in 2022 from Marumo Gallants, was at some point one of the most trusted regular starters in Jose Riveiroโs team. His tenacity earned him significant respect from the Ezimnyama Ngenkani faithful.
However, the arrival of Thalente Mbatha from SuperSport United in the middle of the previous season led to the 32-year-oldโs gradual decline in the pecking order.
This season, he has made only two appearances across all competitions, appearing in one MTN8 and one CAF Champions League game, both as a substitute.
Timm expressed a strong desire to be on the pitch, yet he said he possesses the experience necessary to navigate this challenging period.
TIMM SAYS HE HAS EXPERIENCE TO HANDLE LACK OF GAME TIME ISSUE
โYou come into this sport, knowing that itโs not boxing, itโs not tennis, youโre not doing this on your own,โ said Timm in an interview with Marawa Sports Worldwide.
โOf course, you want to play, you want to be involved all the time. Thatโs what you work for.
โI think I have enough experience to know how to conduct myself when things are not going the way youโd want, obviously not making the squad or sometimes on the bench.
โIโm not the type of player to also ask hierarchy – whether itโs management or technical team, I respect the decisions and choices.”

Timm believes that expressing dissatisfaction about not playing would be illogical especially with the team having had a bright start to the 2024/25 season.
TIMM SEES NO NEED TO COMPLAIN AS PIRATES ARE DOING WELL
โAnd what can I complain about at this moment because when you see the record now from the start of the season, we havenโt lost a game yet.
โSo, itโs about continuing to work on myself, being an example, thereโs a lot of young players.
โWe train together in the morning, I donโt think it would be a good look for me to be dragging my feet or sulking when you have a lot of young players who are trying to push and get there.
โAnd instead, I choose the other route to being an example, continue having a good work ethic. Thatโs all that Iโm in control of, the rest is not up to you.
โLike I said, give it your best, itโs still a privilege to be part of this club. I couldnโt be happier, yes you want to play more but I think we have a long season ahead.
โHopefully, I get to see some minutes later on in the season. But continue to be patient, continue to work hard and continue to be supportive of management, the technical team and most importantly the players.
โIโve seen it happen in the past when I was younger, individuals that are more experienced and are not playing can become disruptive.
โI donโt want to be known as that type of player.โ
